Brittany Bookbinder
actor/writer
Brittany grew up in Kings Park, a small town on Long Island with 4 pizza places, a beach, and an out-of service-mental-institution-turned-state-park.

She appeared in community theatre starting at age 12 and began working in regional theatre at 16. Hungry for adventure, she packed up and headed west to attend Northwestern University.

She recently graduated from Northwestern with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, a minor in Creative Writing and a certificate in Music Theatre.

When she wasn’t in class, in rehearsal, or writing short stories at the late Cafe Ambrosia, she sang with The Undertones, Northwestern’s kookiest a cappella group. The group released two professionally recorded CDs, Enter Sound and Boots and Cats, and won best arrangement in the ICCA semifinals.

She attended the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England after her sophomore year. The next summer, she started interning in the Casting department of Remy Bumppo Theatre Company in Chicago.

After graduation, she went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to originate a role in a new verse drama, Three of Hearts. It ran for the entire length of the Festival and received a 5 Star review.

Almost immediately after getting back to the States, Brittany joined the Theater Un-Speak-Able ensemble. Together they created Superman 2050, a physical theatre piece about Superman and high speed trains in the Midwest, which they perform entirely on a 3’x7’ platform. After a sold out run at Links Hall, Superman 2050 transferred to Donny’s Skybox Theatre at Second City and then toured the Midwest with a representative from the Midwest High Speed Rail Association and a film maker who used footage from the trip to make a documentary. They travelled via Amtrak and performed Carte Blanche Studios in Milwaukee, Huge Improv Theatre in Minneapolis, and in train stations along the way. They recently made their NYC debut with the Times Square International Theatre festival.
